When I was 14 years old, my mother took us on a road trip to San Diego to see our dad. Me and my little brother Sean were really excited because it was our first trip across the United States and instead of being the average kids who find being in a car for 7 hours boring, we decided to make up our own road adventures using our imagination. While we were on the road, we felt safe; anyone would if they were surrounded by beautiful nature on a winding road with the sun beaming through the windows and the wild animals grazing asthey drove by.
I made a pass onmy music in my CDplayer because I'd ratherhear the sounds of the birds and the wind blow pass us as we whirled down the highway going70 mph. We were not afraid of any accidents or even a car crashbecause with no vehicles hardlyvisible on the road, we had the highways all to ourselves.
At night, we had to stop into an Inn on the side of the road, the average person probably would have felt not safe at this littlehole in the wall, by the manager greeted us kindly and even gave us complimentary dinner and free tokens to play in their arcade room. We even met three kids who stayed down the hall from us; we certainly didn't want to pass up the opportunity to make new friends. We played videodriving games and laughed at the game's cheap driving lessons that they tried to prep us for before beginningthe game.Me and Seanhad got into a crash twice and Jake and Mindy, our new friends, had gotten into a crash 6 times. We laughed so hard that our parents heard us and scolded us for staying up too late.
The next morning, we met up with our new friends and decided that we didn't want to pass up the opportunity to gain a new friendship. We exchanged numbers and mailing addresses and vowed to stay in touch. It was soon that we were back in our mini van, buckled up in our seat belts, all comfortable and safe when we were off in record time. This time, we were only 3 hours away from our dad. I just couldn't wait to see what new adventures would await us in San Diego.
