These young drivers on the road really need to learn how to drive the right way. I am in my 80’s and back in my younger years when we had young drivers, they had both hands on the steering wheel. We did not have a cell phone in one hand and the steering wheel in the other hand.
Young drivers in this day and age have a cell phone in one hand and the other hand they are worrying about what their hair looks like. Makes you wonder who is driving the auto. Well, I guess I should say car, but when I was growing up we called them an auto. Auto would be short for automobile.
I remember my first auto was a 1950’s something. I remember one time having a Rambler as an auto also. It was black and I swear it only sat 4 people comfortable. I can remember our driving instructor saying something like, “okay you all are going to be young drivers soon, and here are some pointers to take to heart with you.” Please have both hands on the steering wheel at all times, please.
I do remember discussing a chapter on dsa, which stands for driving standard agency. So many of us thought dsa meant design school of art, some thought it meant driving school academy. We came up with a lot of different meanings.
I love to sit here on the bench of a busy street and watch all the young drivers. Some are real cautious, some can turn a corner on a dime, some can lay black marks with their tires, and others are just plain exactly what they are. The simple and plain statement is they are young drivers. You really wonder if half of them are even tall enough to drive.
I am looking forward to seeing my great-grandson driving soon. He just turned 16 and needs to get his driver’s license and also an auto. Well, car in his words. I have to remember to asked him if they studied the chapter about dsa. I think I will ask him if he knows what it stands for.
It is time for me to get back to my housework and fixing supper for all of the family, so will talk to you all later.
